| How do I get information about the courses delivered via the e-Institute? The World Bank's e-Institute offers a wide range of courses in several thematic areas. The "Calendar" on e-Institute's portal homepage (http://wbi.worldbank.org/ei/CourseCalendarYear) offers course information, including a detailed description, objectives, and target audience as well as fees and other technical information. The calendar is regularly updated to include new offerings. |

| I have applied for a course and still have not heard back? You will get a message from us with details about a week after the application deadline. |
| Are E-Institute courses free or do I have to make arrangements for fees? All facilitated courses offered via the e-Institute collect nominal fees to cover facilitation and administration costs. Please check the course description for exact fees. There are some courses that are offered in a self-paced format that are free of cost. Participants are on their own when taking these modules and do not receive a formal certificate of completion or feedback on their work. |

Can I get a scholarship? Or get a sponsor to cover costs? |
| Can I pay in installments? Unfortunately, due to the high volume of transactions and the associated transaction costs we cannot accept installment plans. |
| Can I get an invoice to get reimbursed? If you need an official invoice, please contact the course director that is listed in the event description. We will send you the invoice by email. |
| Will I need to travel in order to participate in e-learning courses? As this is a virtual course facilitated using on-line communications tools on the Internet, you will not need to travel to participate in e-Institute courses. Some courses are self-paced where all learning is self-directed and you can learn at your own pace and time. The majority of courses, however, are interactive with the benefits of expert feedback. The courses encourage interaction among peers from around the world in order to share advice, knowledge, and experiences. All interactions will occur online. |
| I have been accepted into the course. How do I log in? After being accepted in the course you will receive an email with log in instructions. You can also come back to the e-Institute home page and click on "Enter Course". Follow the prompts on the screen to get to your course. |
| Do I have to login everyday at a specific time? Not generally. Even if some activities have fixed deadlines in facilitated courses, most of these activities can be done at any time within the week and from any location. There might, however, be courses that offer real-time interactions via chats, webinars, and webcasts, etc. This will be clearly indicated in the course description so interested parties can determine their schedule availability before applying to a course. Check with the course director for details. |
| Will there be an examination at the end? There is no examination per se. Most courses, however, have knowledge checks throughout the modules and at the end to allow learners to gauge whether they have understood the concepts and measure their learning gains. Examples of such knowledge checks include: quizzes, discussion questions, as well as end of course projects and action plans for which participants get feedback. |
| Will I have a tutor in the course? One-on-one tutoring is not offered, most courses, however, are virtually facilitated by leading experts in the field. These experts will initiate and moderate group discussions, facilitate peer learning and knowledge sharing among classmates, and provide feedback on individual assignments. |
| Will I get a CD-ROM/DVD of the course materials? Many of the e-Institute courses have accompanying CD-ROMs to store high bandwidth content and multimedia. Please check with the course director. Also note that the CD-ROMs will only contain static content and not dynamic discussions, quizzes, or activities. If you want to save certain discussion posts, you will have do a manual copy and paste to your local drive. |
| Are E-Institute courses academically credited? E-Institute courses are not academically credited. We will, however, send you a Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of course requirements. |
| What type of computer and Internet connection do I need to participate in an e-learning course? Please check out the Technical Requirement page. |

| I forgot my username and/or password. On the lower corner of the login screen find "Forgot your username and password?", and select the button "Yes, help me login". This will take you to a screen where you must enter either your Username or e-mail address. After you enter either one, you will receive a message with a link that you must follow to confirm a request for a new password. After clicking this link, you will receive a second message with your new password. If the problem persists, contact your course director. |
| I have problems with accessing some parts of the course (e.g., multimedia presentations and pdfs). Many of the documents that are used in courses are formatted in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf). You need to download and install Acrobat Reader (free of cost). Many courses also have multimedia animations requiring Adobe Flash. Flash Player Plugin on your computer can also be downloaded for free. |
| How long will I have access to the course online? Generally the course space online will be kept open for at least 4 weeks after the course completion date. Many courses also offer an accompanying CD-ROM so check with your course director for more information. Please note that the CD-ROMs will only contain the static content and not dynamic discussions or quizzes and exercises. If you want to save certain discussion posts, you will have do a manual copy and paste to your local drive. |
